Shopping has always played a large role in many scenarios developed for the application of various technology concepts right from receiving discounts & offers in a mall (Bluetooth), remote social shopping (mobile video cameras), getting recommendations on the move (location-based) or trying out clothes from home without actually wearing them (augmented reality). However almost none of these concepts (most of them atleast) have really seen the light of day and turned into reality.

I wonder why this is the case.
